Rock on Neon Radio should be your destination station to find songs to add to your personal music services. That's because you'll hear album cuts from artists you know and songs from indie artists many are unfamiliar with mixed in with old favorites. So you won't be inundated with unfamiliar song after unfamiliar song, but will hear songs you know along with the new stuff. The station is, therefore, modelled after the approach of new wave stations. In fact, the station’s motto is “some that you recognize, some that you've hardly even heard of” which is a quote from the song Celluloid Heroes by The Kinks written by Ray Davies. And station owner, Jay Goldberg, writes the column "The Music Scout: Alternative" for the Live365 Broadcaster Newsletter. The genres? Rock, alternative, adult alternative, new wave, indie rock and crossover from artists in other genres that would appeal to lovers of the five genres previously mentioned. Here is the current schedule: Mondays thru Thursdays, 24 hours a day, is Favorites. Here about one-third of the 7000 or so songs on the station's server are eligible to be played. Fridays, 24 hours a day, is Anything Goes. Here all 7000 or so songs on the station's server are eligible to be played. And Saturdays and Sundays are New Wave Weekend (24 hours each day). The show is called What If New Wave Never Ended. The music includes classic new wave, forgotten new wave and album cuts from new wave artists. In addition, to capture the full new wave experience, which includes finding new favorite songs and artists; the music also includes songs post-new-wave from classic new wave artists and artists post-new-wave that fit the genre (both indie/small label artists and established artists). Two other features of New Wave Weekend are Shoutout of the Week, a continuation of sorts of WLIR/WDRE's Screamer/Shriek of the Week, and songs in the station's New Wave Song Hall of Fame. The Shoutout of the Week is a featured song that plays about 12 times over the weekend. In addition, the station nominates 12 new wave songs a month for its New Wave Song Hall of Fame. Listeners then vote for the five they feel are most deserving to enter the Hall.
